. Each
one of them has displayed a faith in our idea, our passion, and
our unproven abilities – by providing funding and product
donations to enable our exploration of America. This page is about
each of them, and is our first step in making sure this is one of
the best sponsorships they ever make.
If you are hearing about this project for the first time
and would like to make a sponsorship or form a partnership of any
kind, please email sponsors@tyap.com.
By clicking on a logo, you’ll be taken to our sponsor’s
website. Here are our sponsors in the order they have signed on:
Nantucket
Nectars When Tom First and Tom Scott graduated from
Brown University, they listened to their instincts and took a risk
on their future by starting a business making juices that they sold
from a boat in the Nantucket harbor. Fifteen years later, Nantucket
Nectars is a nationally recognized brand and the ‘Juice Guys’
serve as inspiration to college entrepreneurs around the country.
It’s no wonder that the company culture of Nantucket Nectars
would attract the type of employees who’d be willing to risk
a large chunk of money on a group of college guys with little more
than an idea and a ten page proposal.
The North Face Their tagline, “Never Stop Exploring,”
seems like a natural fit for The Young Americans Project. North
Face has provided us with sleeping bags, tents, backpacks, and gear
bags to pursue our recreational activities and look good at campsites
around the country.
Penske
Truck Leasing Almost ubiquitous around the U.S.,
the well-respected Penske brand is American born and raised.
In the world of transportation, Penske knows how to get it done.
The Young Americans Project has really enjoyed working
out a sponsorship with Penske, which has been incredibly kind and
flexible. Their slogan, 'Dedication at every turn' is fitting.
Red
Door Media Wendy Hebb and Michael Richard, the brains behind
Red Door Media, generously designed this beautiful website pro bono.
Red Door Media specializes in video production, web design, and
graphic design. They recently released their first documentary,
Closing the Circle, which was a winner in the 2005
Maine Documentary Film Competition and was show at the Maine International
Film Festival and at the Camden Film Festival.

We debated for hours on what we wanted our logo to look like, and
we decided to go with a well respected artist our age. Peter has
been drawing up album covers, shirts, and flyers for bands for almost
ten years with the same sincerity and enthusiasm as he had when
he started at 16. Many thanks to Peter for putting up with us through
many derivations of the logo.
Ripe
In March 2001, Michael and Naomi Hebberoy began Ripe from their
kitchen as a series of family suppers held twice monthly for around
twenty guests. Now Ripe is a Portland, OR culinary empire, with
its own gin and three of the hottest restaurants in the country.
TYAP will be in Portland when Ripe throws a fundraising party.
Cruise
America RV Rentals and Sales They got The Young Americans
Project rolling, literally. As one of the leading RV
dealerships in the country, Cruise America has provided a 30’
RV, which will serve as our office, home, and transportation for
the next three months. Our hope is that we can repay them
by inspiring our generation to hit the road and explore this great
country.
Boston
College The BC Film Studies department has generously donated
film equipment and editing resources to make the documentary portion
of this project a reality. Without these resources, this documentary
would not have been filmed. As a department, they seem to be prepared
for the ‘creative revolution’ that may sweep college
campuses in the next five to ten years. Plus, they have some great
professors.
Maxtor
Corporation In the digital revolution, they are in
a perfect position – and seem to have a good team in place
for the ride. Their data storage products are the best in the industry
and are bringing digital filmmaking to the masses. The external
storage drives their providing us with will allow us to edit and
save our footage each night.
Island
Grocery Since the late 1800's, the Island Grocery has served
the local summer residents of Rutherford Island, a small fishing
village on the tip of the Pemaquid Peninsula in Maine. The new Island
Grocery, built in the style of a New England cottage, offers amenities
such as rotisserie free range chicken, artisan breads, and premium
handmade on the premises. Island Grocery helped out TYAP by provisioning
us for the first leg of the trip.
